About Me

I am passionate about language and teaching. My entire education and career has been shaped by my interest in linguistic structure, human communication and their impact on an audience. I have over 30 years of experience in working in the linguistic, media and communication sectors and I’d love to share my knowledge and skills with you.

I was born and grew up in Switzerland, and after long periods in South-East Asia and the Far East in my late teens and early 20s, I eventually settled in the UK in 1994. I am bilingual with English and Swiss German being my first languages. I also speak near-native German, intermediate French and Italian, elementary Spanish, and I have good knowledge of Latin.

I studied linguistics, German literature and mass communication theory at Zurich University and later embarked on a degree course in media arts and TV/video production at the London School of Film, Media and Design, part of the University of West London (formerly Thames Valley University). I was awarded a 1st class BA (Hons) degree in 2001.

In July  2018, I obtained the Trinity College Cert (TESOL), a highly regarded and internationally recognised qualification for teaching English to speakers of other languages (English as a second language). I was awarded the top grade A in all modules.

I’ve been self-employed since 2007 and live and work in London and Dorset.
